BLACKSBURG, Va., March 19, 2012 – On Friday June 1, 2012, the Cook Family and the VTV Family Outreach Foundation are proud to present the 5th Annual Hokie Spirit Memorial Golf Tournament at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club, 15201 Ashland Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059 and sponsored by NewClients. The Hokie Spirit Memorial Golf Tournament honors those affected by the events of April 16, 2007. Money raised will benefit the VTV Family Outreach Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by many of the survivors and family members of those lost on April 16, 2007 to support advocacy for campus safety and security. This year funds will benefit The Norris Garden Project, which is part of the Hokie Spirit Trail.
The Hokie Spirit Garden Trail is a university-wide project linking current and future gardens on the campus through the establishment of bicycle and walking trails that allow for easy access to the outdoors by all members of the campus and extended community of Virginia Tech. In addition to The Norris Garden stop on the trail, stop number eight is the April 16th Memorial Garden. The 32 stone layout was inspired was inspired by the response of the wonderful Virginia Tech student body following the tragic events of April 16, 2007. Once considered a temporary memorial to serve until the building of a larger memorial, this is now the university’s permanent memorial.

Meet Hilary Cook
Hilary is Founder of the Hokie Spirit Memorial Golf Tournament. She and her family founded this tournament 5 years ago as their way to give back to a school and a community that gave them so much support in the wake of the April 16th events and to honor and remember those impacted.
