Integrated School Resource Officer (SRO) Safety Model and Training Curriculum

A broad literature review has been conducted to inform development of an integrated school safety model including, but not limited to, the following school safety domains:

  • Positive school climate
  • Reducing the school-to-prison pipeline
  • Restorative disciplinary practices
  • Mental health issues and services
  • Threat identification and management
  • Emergency crisis planning and response
  • Physical security: crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED)
  • Data collection and evaluation
  • Legal issues and practices
  • Cultural competencies and special populations
  • Law enforcement practices: roles of SROs
  • Actively Caring for People principles and applications
