VTV Family Foundation

PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING TO THE VTV FAMILY OUTREACH FOUNDATION

The VTV Family Outreach Foundation continues its mission of advocating for school and campus safety and assisting victims. Below are cited recent accomplishments in fulfillment of the mission.

  • 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32NCSI): a set of multidisciplinary campus safety self-assessment tools provided to colleges and universities at no cost. This program, guided by a panel of experts, is currently being piloted at seven institutions across the country and is scheduled to launch nationwide in mid-2015.
  • Integrated School Resource Officer (SRO) Safety Model and Training Curriculum: funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), VTV in collaboration with the Virginia Tech Center for Applied Behavior Systems (CABS) is developing a comprehensive training program for K-12 school resource officers (SROs).
  • National Center for Campus Public Safety (NCCPS): with bi-partisan Congressional support VTV championed funding for the Center. The NCCPS serves as a resource for campus police chiefs, emergency managers, and key campus safety stakeholders. The Center opened in July, 2014. VTV is a member of The Center’s Advisory Board.
  • Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act: VTV worked to secure passage of the Campus SaVE Act, helping to update campus prevention and response guidelines.
  • Crisis Response Team (CRT): VTV’s CRT is a group of trained VTV family members and staff who provide assistance upon request to the victims of incidents of school violence.
  • Violence Prevention Conference: VTV is a co-sponsor of the Violence Prevention Conference, being offered by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). VTV participated in the development and implementation of the conference, to be held in January, 2015.
  • Webinars: in partnership with Workplace Answers and Stetson University College of Law, VTV is developing a series of webinars to provide the higher education community with solutions to campus safety issues.
  • Collaboration: VTV hosted representatives from Columbine, Sandy Hook, PEACE OUTside Campus, CLEARCAUSE and the Michael H. Minger Foundation, at the VTV Annual Meeting in an effort to establish collaborative relationships with organizations with similar goals and to broaden our scope on educating schools and colleges.

With your financial support, we can retain the most knowledgeable experts in K-12 and higher education, create the best training programs, and when tragedy strikes we can deploy VTV teams to support victims in need.

Please help us make America’s schools and campuses safer. Click here to contribute to the VTV Family Outreach Foundation.
